Changing from a lwb styleside to a swb flareside

I'm new out here and have a question. I just got my Dad's 64 f100 lwb Styleside truck. The bed is in pretty decent shape but I prefer a Flareside. What do I need to cut on the frame to put a 64 swb flareside box on my 64 lwb styleside? Are there holes forward on the frame to move the axle forward, and then just cut down the back of the frame, or will I have to cut the frame in the middle and re-weld it?

I did that to my 61
Cut out a piece / moved it forward / welded & plated
Not too tough a job.... But....
Measure , Measure , Measure .....
Did I mention , Measure ?
Got mine about a half inch short
Nobody can tell.... But me
Also has to be SQUARE & LEVEL !
Take your time and do it right....
You might have to drill some new holes for Bolting down the bed

I did this on my '63.
You will need to cut and weld the frame in 2 spots.
The front bed bolts are in the same spot for all beds, so that becomes your datum.
The middle 2 bolts are the same distance apart on all beds.
The back bolt is in the same spot relative to the bumper on all beds.
SO: the difference in the bed lengths is between bolts 1-2 and 3-4. That is where you make your cuts on the frame.
USE YOUR OWN MEASUREMENTS!!! Don't count on the info on the internet...trust your tape measure.
I would suggest boxing the frame on the front cut. The back is just along for the ride and doesn't take much load, unless you plan to tow.

Here's another opinion!
Why do it at all??
If it's the decent truck you say it is, sell it and buy a decent Shrtbed flareside. Seems to me there all over. Just hunt a little. Personally i like the Longbed.
Like I said, JMHO

It would be way to easy to sell and buy the SWB. This one has sentimental value. As I noted previously, it was my Dad's old truck. I have original sales contracts, warranty cards, plates, the whole nine yards. I want the truck I finish to be the one he bought new.

Maybe I'm missing something here. Of course it's your truck and you can do with it what you wish, but to my way of thinking, if you change it from a long bed styleside to a short bed flareside it will no longer be your dad's truck but a different truck entirely. Just sayin'.

I am with Grits on this one.
I wouldn't change the truck much if you want to "keep it the same"
You could do a second truck with a SWB....then you would have 2!
