Four way flashers
Four way flashers
My 1966 f100 did not have four way flashers, but instead there was a cover inserted into the dash. on two of our parts trucks they both had four way flashers installed, with an extra hole drilled for the flasher light. i was wondering why is there an extra hole with a cover on my dash, which is round, and to small for the flasher switch, if my truck did not have 4 way flashers, and why did ford drill an extra hole if it was only going to have an insert in it? while they drilled other dashes with an extra hole for the flasher switch, and one for the light? thanks

Re: Four way flashers
placement of the flasher switch and the light if equipped are dependent on if it was a factory or dealer item as its a plug in item

early trucks, big trucks and 4x4s usually in the instrument panel on the right side

my truck did not have factory or dealer flashers, then why did ford drill an extra hole in the dash, if nothing was going to be placed in it?

Re: Four way flashers
btw the extra hole in your pic is able to fit the switch if taken out of the bracket and the correct besel used.
its also for the throttle cable which was another option.
they used the chrome button to fill the hole if nothing was in it.

Re: Four way flashers
i tried placing the switch into the hole, but the hole is a hair to small, and the hole is perfectly round, while the switch has one flat side.

Re: Four way flashers
Nick, the 'extra' hole if it's the 3rd from the right is used for the throttle on big trucks. Not the best pic but you can see it:
