What Wheels have been used with the C.V. swap?

Post by LOBORXCX »

Trying to figure out what my options are for the rims on my 65. Im doing the Crown Victoria suspension swap on the front and want to pick up the wheels soon. Anyone got pics of what they're running?

Not running them yet, but I have a set of 17" Mustang Bullit wheels (which are the proper offset) for my CV conversion.

If you are to the point of mounting them, you are welcome to come by and try my various size Bullits on your application.
As Grits stated, the S197 late model Mustangs have the proper offset, as do earlier SVO's.

Maybe a dumb question, but do 15" wheels fit on the CV front end, or do I need a 16" or bigger??? Have a set of American Racing Torque Thrust awaiting possibly.....15x7 and 8.
Sorry to hi-jack...
Thanks

Correct offset 15" wheels usually will not clear. I know of one which is running a 15x 3.5" front runner but I don't know what offset.

Good to know. The caliper is pretty big on those Panther from ends and measuring looks really tight... Don't have the two together to try and fit, hence the dumb question :)
Thanks!!!

If I'm remembering what I've read correctly, 16" wheels are pretty tight also.

I'm not quite there yet. wanted to pick up wheels before I take the truck apart, I use it as my daily driver. Dont want to have it down for more than a week or two. Thanks for the offer though.

Those look nice, but I'm not sure I want the muscle car look. I was hoping to find a steel wheel that I can run white walls with. Right now I'm running 17 steel Dodge truck wheels. I like the look, but its more rim than I like, I would rather have 16s cause I can still run whites and it will look decent.

There are some OEM wheels which will fit. Biggest factor is the high positive offset. Probably easiest way to maintain correct offset and appearance would be Wheel Vintiques. The stock CV wheels just have too much fwd appearance for my liking.

i know what you mean.. on my slick i wanted to run 15s bfg combo with white letters showing..but seems like what i will spend15s combo i can spend it on a bigger nicer set of wheels..

it all comes down to preference...

i believe you can get away with some 16" or whatever those black cop car wheels are...
