Emblem removal
Emblem removal
I was curious if the '65/'66 fender emblems can be removed without taking off the fenders. I stuck my hand up there and I can feel two mounting pins protruding but I'm not sure what kind of fastener is used to attach these with. I can't detect any nuts holding these things on. Apologize for my ignorance on this, just thought I'd refer to experts out there, thanks!
Re: Emblem removal
I just pried mine off on my 66. They snap into some kind of bushing in the holes. Not sure what the bushings are made of but I need to get some new one. Take your time and work them off evenly.
Re: Emblem removal
The have little metal barrel nut holding them in. They just pull out a putty knife works good to get them off.

Re: Emblem removal
They are retained by tube clips which are inserted into the sheet metal. Usually they will stay in place and can be re-used. replacements are available from fastener suppliers; they will need to know the stud size as well as hole size.
