64-66 dome light?

My 66 does not have a domelight. It is a custom cab, so I'd guess it had one, but is now missing. I also do not have a headliner. Does the domelight mount in the head liner?I am not ready to buy and install a headliner, so guess I'd need to rig something else up until then.

Is the housing (part bulb goes into) & wiring for the 64-66 dome light similar to the 67-72 trucks? Wondering if I can use the newer stuff to get something working in mine.

dome lights are same 64-72.

On my '64 and '61 it is mounted in the middle of the headliner above the rear window.
What I'd REALLY like to do is to mount it in the middle of the main top section, but the pig tail is not long enough to reach, the way the wiring is run. If I need to see something in the floor board in front of me, my body casts a shadow and makes it difficult to see!

Thanks, but I have two of the plastic type already, and 2 of the ones Ranchero50 is selling.

I think I have the metal housing in the garage somewhere. Trying to find the end of the original power wire, if it still exists, might be fun.

my domelight is currrently just the bulb in the socket wedged into the window frame.

I think it would be slick to install a bulb under each end of the dash to light up the footwell area....

And the dome light in my folks' '89 F350 is pretty cool, with little maplights in each end of it.

Also, I just installed some little door-pin switches and a relay so that the light actually comes on when you open the door. I just need to install a switch on the line so that I can turn it off when I want it to act original. It's pretty cool.

yea i dont have the plastic cover. i got two of the aluminum bezels myself.

Black agatha, the 60's rancheros and convertibles have that setup or at least my '68-69 car do. Just a little teardrop looking ring with one screw going into the metal dash.
