Dear Abby

Post by ICEMAN6166 »

i belong to a fine group of 61-66 ford truck owners. normally everything runs along quite nicely but ther is a certain topic which occasionally flares up the tempers of otherwise friendly people.
i have been a member for many years , used to be there was a leader who would only let this go so far, and stop it before it got real ugly. now the original leader has disappeared, there was another who took over and still managed to keep this in line before he too disappeared. there is now a 3rd member who has this power and i am not sure he wishes to take action before too many folks get offended and begin leaving "never to return"
he has not spoken up on this topic so i can not determine his feelings on this.

we are planning a large get together later this year, many have done a lot to ensure this will be a big success and a good time for all who attend. i am worried the inflammatory topic which has now seemed to invade many of the postings , including changing the original topic to include this inflammatory one and i worry that it will affect the get together.

i have not been out of the woods in many years and several of the members have gone beyond the call of duty to make it possible for me to attend which i am greatly thankful.

i feel we need to stop these inflammations before they go much further
what should i do?

Ice, let me tell you a story. I raced Stock Cars for many years. All of us racers were grown men, most with families and full time jobs. BUT when we went to the track on Saturday nights, we were just a bunch of little kids again. life is like that.....................

Good reading Brian---ICE

Now if some could just comprehend what they read !!!

There is nothing that you can do to stop this nonsense. It will continue to go on long after you and I are worm food. You can only make choices on how to deal with it.
I think it is VERY bad for the club, and I choose to not get sucked into such bullshit.
There are enough problems in REAL life to deal with, Why look for more?
Here in MAC country there are about 10 of us that have been here thru it all, but I have seen alot of local guys come in for a while and then just fade away. We will never know why, but the childish actions of some may have had something to do with it. I would hope not, but I am a realist !
I have found some Extremely good friends because of this club and no matter what happens on these boards ---that will not change. How many more friendships ---COULD HAVE BEEN?

I learned along time ago------Is there a reason to state your opinion? What are the repercussions of doing it? What do you hope to accomplish?

I love my truck and I would like it if you did also. However, I built it for ME. If I built it for YOU ---then it would be YOUR truck.

Thanx for a GREAT club!
Tim

I sorry Iceman but I have to stick up for what I believe in. If others disagree with me then its their lack of knowledge so I look over it. SO therefore I must take a stand in saying that Wrestling is real,Elvis is alive and in Brazil running a pub, and lastly Britainy Spears is a saintly mother that is misunderstood. Seriously folks lets all play nice in the slick sandbox.

dont be sorry, i too believe in sticking up for my opinions.

this however does not mean dragging an opinion into another post unrelated.
i am as guilty as the next person in doing it too but in reality it gets nothing done.it is easy to get carried away from the comfort of your chair in front of the screen and continue to comment long after the point has been made.

i would like to see El P. return
he has a great amount of skill and while you or i may not agree with one or 2 things he did , there was a lot more he was doing that was well worth looking at.

the whole reason for this post was to point out that this is a great club, and maybe we all should stop and think about what its beginning was all about and what a better place it is when the bs is left outside the door before coming in. i would much rather spend my time discussing interesting topics than getting into arguments about things that are just arguments.

Agreed. This site has a higher purpose than just a sounding board for members to compile a running list of things they dislike.

I, for one, knew exactly what Iceman was getting at, and I feel the same way, for the record. Just thought I'd post something humourous to lighten the mood. :)

I hope no one took me seriously with that bit of sarcasim about Elvis, wrestling and Spears. What I was getting at is its ok to disagree but we need to not get on a bandwagon and run others off. In other words play nice in the sandbox as people tell their kids or cats whichever they have. If you have both of them don't let your kids play with the cat rocks in the sand.
