Thanks Randy I figured out how to add pictures. Here is some pictures of my 66 frame off restoration, it didn’t start out to be a frame off but the more I took apart the more I found that I couldn’t live with. I hate the PO

hope no one here recognize this truck. I bought the truck in Sept 07 on e-bay and had to pick it up in Knoxville TN. I was hoping to be able to drive it a little before I started fixing it up, but when I changed the oil the engine started knocking and that’s when the tear done begun.

I was told I could drive it home if I wanted, this seat wasn't even bolted to the floor. Glad I took a trailer

Couldn't wait to get rid of this head liner

Frame before

Frame after powder coating gloss black, diff. housing powder coated silver vain, and new spring from EATON springs to lower the back 2"

Radius arms powder coated silver vain, springs powder coated silver, ABS Power Brake disc conversion

Fuel & brake line, I used all steel braided brake lines

Finaly got the front back on the ground

I have an appointment on Aug 16th to get the cab blasted

Progress looks great. Nice to see all the attention to detail. It all pays off in the end. I think that I spent more time under my truck than I did on the sunny side side of it. What are your engine and tranny plans?

How is that floor like for cleaning and rolling stuff around. Been tossing the idea around of doing something similar in my garage. Also how much per sq ft?

I think the job is going to take about two years to complete the way I want it
Eng is a 302, (have to change the pan, it was originaly going in a mustang) about 400 HP with a street strip C4 from Performance Automatic.

The floor has held up very well, we roll around engine stands and hoists on it with no damage yet. It cleans up nice with simple green, it gets dirty easy with the black and white tiles. They are Race Deck tiles, I think they are about $3.50 each. 17' by 20' cost me about $1300

It was $750 to powder coat the frame

What type media is going to be used for blasting the cab? I would not blast the roof or back panel. firewall, jambs, underneath are fair game though.

Looks like you are moving right along.... mine has slowed to a crawl

Way cool on the brake lines, I have never seen all braided lines before.

...and.. my 65 frame looks different in the rear, the rear cross member is different I believe ??

Thanks Rich, I took the back cross member out turned it over and moved it back so I could install a 69/70 mustang tank in the back. The steel braided brake lines were much easier to install then tubing. I called the Russel tech folks and they said steel lines would last as long as regular lines as long as you keep them full of fluid.

Randy, the cab will be blasted with soda. They told me they would probably have to add something else to get everything off the fire wall and floors, so I'm not to worried about worpage. One of the guy's I work with has a brother that does this for a living, so all I have to pay for is the media.

Man the progress is looking great. You just made me want to put my other project on hold and finish my 66. How much were the brake lines in total? That is what I wanted to do is all braided stainless since everything in the engine compartment pretty much is. I think braided looks more professional and cleaner.
The powder coating looks awesome as well. I have a powder coating machine and powder and would love to do mine. I just dont have an oven that big and cannot afford one of the good and huge heated UV lights they use to cure it.
Keep up the work, I can wait to see it put all back together.

I have about $200 in the steel braided lines right now, I will have to get more when I get the cab on to go frome the master cylinder to the prop. valve then connect to these lines. I'm sure it will be less then $300 when done. I like the look and plain on having steel braided lines for my trans cooler, heater hoses and fuel line under the hood.
I didn't intend for this to be a frame off but once I started I couldn't find a stoping point. It sure is nice putting back togeather, all the parts a nice and clean.

That old seat looked like you'd need a tetanus shot afterward.

The cab frame was very easy to build, about $70 for 2x4's and wheels. You can make it any height but I made mine 193/4" height (from the floor) 48" deep and 691/4" wide. I was able to take the cab off by myself with it. I had the rear end out and was able to roll it under the cab then lower the truck frame until the cab sat on the built frame

I haven't gotten the frame blasted yet, I could get the trailer I need. Hoping for this week end. We're going to use soda as much as possible, but may have to add sand for the floor and fire wall. I'll put up pictures of it next week after its done.
