352FE with cruiseomatic to 4 speed

Post by rider307g »

OK, I tried to do a search, but couldn't really find what I was looking for. I have a 352 FE that I would like to run the 4 speed on but need to know if anyone has done it and how difficult is it? Not only the trans, but the clutch pedal assembly as well. Am I better off just changing to the C6? I think the manual trans would be a lot of fun to drive.

Well, my truck was originaly a 3 on the tree, the po changed that to a automatic. When i installed my four speed i had to cut a hole in the transmission mound for the shifter and then find a cover. Then you need to replace the brake pedal bracket and put in one with the clutch pedal (I have a clutch/brake pedal and bracket for sale if you decide to do the swap  ) Then you will need a clutch, flywheel, and linkages, it is not a very had swap because all the stock bolt holes should be there, its all fairly basic stuff, hard thing to screw up in my opinion, go for it! 8)

You are right-manual transmissions(4 speeds & up) are a blast to drive. When I'm too old
to row a shift handle, just shoot me & put me out of my misery! There is no feeling
quite like a perfectly done power-shift. :)
