We're having fun now......................

Post by Greg D »

Said to myself "enough" last night and pulled over at the Petro in Salina Ks. Was supposed to go to Wichita and go west on US 54 - it's closed, alternate US 56 - closed. The dispatcher suggested I 70 then south on US 83 - closed south of Garden City - big shocker there. Well apparently I am going to be here for awhile, lol.

They were in a big a$$ hurry for me to leave last night to "miss" this stuff. With good weather this is a 2 day run, I would have left this AM. I am going to lose all the time I gained yesterday and then some waiting here. Right now I can't even get out of my parking space or the lot - stuck trucks in my way.

They are likely going to end up rescheduling this drop. We should have set it for Tuesday and I left tomorrow. Could be at home right now and last night.

Give slick4x4 a jingle. He's only about 14 miles from Salina over in Kipp.

Pat is one guy who's # I don't have. Sort of hoping he sees this post if he wants to come up for coffee (and can get here, lol). They have a big Cat front end loader and a grader trying to plow the lot, they are sliding around too, lol.
How have you been Marty?

no tire chains bro ? ss_pokes2.gif

around here the big rigs go till they cant then chain up and go some more.
suppose those would do you no good if they close all the roads though.

not very often a road gets closed. an avalanche or serious ice from freezing rain on the road is about the only time.

:D fun part about the plains out there is it takes very little snow to close a road, if the wind is blowing the right way. Grew up out there and as little as 6 inches can cause the biggest headaches...years ago we were elk hunting and the plains got 6 inches, roads closed in 4 states for days, DIA (denver airport) was down 2 days and cattle all over were getting hay dropped by the national guard choppers.

Thanks for giving me a ring Pat, good to talk to you again. I was real sorry to hear about the shed and the 63, hope it's not hurt too bad.
Pat & Coleen are great folks but I remember that from last August at SS!
