Re: 61-66 ford pick up sheetmetal * tell us what you need
Not too sound to off base But some of you need to be realistic,, never will be a complete styleside bed made in this country,,, If so price would be I would say 2500 and up not including shipping,,, doubt overseas and if overseas it will be cheap Tawain xxxx metal that is no good anyway...
We has a customer that bought Tawain bed sides floors etc locally,, brought it here to see what we can do and after he told me that he went to 5 body shops and not a single one would touch that Tawain xxxx period on trying to weld,,, me personally I do know what will happen in just say 2 years to that Tawain xxxx metal,, be rusting in the sunset,, I know you guys would like to wish but in Reality will not happen
Mercury stepside gates are already being stamped,,,
when I find the part I have on display I will take a pic of what I did with my hand on crushing a Tawain shift collar

where do i get a Mercury Styleside tail gate? I need one yesterday. All I see are stepside stuff.
Not arguing poor quality etc, but given how rusty and unobtanium reall steel boxes are getting to find - i will take taiwanese if thats my only choice.
You find me a MINT 64-66 short styleside under $1200-1500 delivered and I will take it. I have been looking for three years, and all have rust bad enough it needs repair, somewhere on the box.
And UNI style styleside boxes - not even in the US my friend. Thats South American only.
I would kill for a 6' UNI box for my Mercury

Re: 61-66 ford pick up sheetmetal * tell us what you need
Bed floor patches (like, for across the front) are needed. Entire bed is a pipe dream, for the reasons Tom mentions. Not all the Taiwan stuff is crap; we have the core supports as proof that you can get good parts from our pals across the ocean. But yes, it's not a sure bet the stuff will be good.
Dare I say, part of the problem is too many guys out there are trying to bring scrap back from the dead. If you need new floors, cab mounts, rain gutters, core support and a usable bed, you own a parts truck...not a restoration project. One of the difficult things I've had to learn in my 30+ years of messing with vehicles is not to buy a pile of crap to start with! Especially when it comes to something fairly common, like vintage Mustangs and old Ford pickups. Plenty of good ones to choose from if you look and raise your purchase budget a bit higher. A $750 truck is cheap until you have to start welding in a bunch of new metal.

Re: 61-66 ford pick up sheetmetal * tell us what you need
here is one prime example of Tawain Junk at its best,, THis is a Ford Shift Collar that I crushed with my hand when at a show when somebody ? the difference between A repo collar and Original Ford we sell

Oh yes I agree a Front Panel would be easy to do without too much problems and is much needed,, all crossmembers under the bed would be easy especially front needed,, 1'-2' front of bed floor,,,
Parts trucks are what it is,, when I go to buy a parts truck it has to be at least 90% there, I start I start at a scale of 100% then start deducting, Bad Roof -30%,bed-30%, and front fenders not too much deduction,, don't care if it runs,, I have here at least 10 FE'S Motors here so if they want 2500 for the truck with deductions will most likely pay 600. and if its real bad pull off what I want crush the rest JUst to give a idea 61/64 Cab just in USA Made Panels right now are at 825.00 NOT Including Welding Yet so if you paid 2000 for that truck your at now 2825 and just getting started and thats why I sell the best Original unmolested cabs you can find
If its a truck for me unless it's something rare like a Ranger or Mercury then will look at a lot closer

Junkyarddog (or anyone) do you know if these will fit my 63 f250 flareside longbox 4x4 ? searched the site and looks like it will fit but ford has so many nuances when it comes to application i'm never sure of anything. i realize they're tawainese junk but beats me spending a couple days making them by hand.6166 Junkyard Dog wrote:THOSE Repair panels have been being made for past 20 years+ Go to Mid-fifties Golden Valley AZ,, we use to sell them USA Made till the company gave up since Tawain xxxx came out,, how good Lord only knows
thanks and sorry for the hijack.

The front of the rear fenders at the bottom are the same from 53-79 since the fenders are the same on a 53-79 regardless of what size stepside truck or flareside it is if thats what you want to call it
no Mercury gates except whats on my long stepside truck

Re: 61-66 ford pick up sheetmetal * tell us what you need
Just came by to visit since I started up again on a project and saw the sheet metal post. I've owned my 66 F100 since the mid 80's and looked off and on over the years without any luck for bed patch panels for the front area of the bed.
Here are some pictures of my home made patch panels I finished this past weekend after some trial and error. They aren't fitted, but I didn't make them until I got sample piece that matched up well. If they look decent installed, I'll share the details. Clark
