The T-85N is a truck transmission. I have one in my 65 F-100 with 390 engine, which is a direct bolt in. Im not familiar with the 64 and earlier trucks but you should easily be able to swap in an FE with that T-85. Just use the clutch set up for your year truck, it will mount right up. You might hav...

Another trick i learned a long time ago is to use a pencil eraser to clean off the contact places in your light sockets and even on the contacts of your light bulbs.

Re; 5 speed
Check over at Fordification. There is at least one tech article about installing a NV4500 5 speed in a later model truck which is basically the same as a slick. Its pricey and may be over kill for your application though.

It reads mph now. except at for instance 60mph, it reads 80k or what ever on the speedo. Just expiriment to see what reads what. I dont know how you would ever get it geared right for what you want. You can not recalibrate the speedo for what you want. Also, if you start messing with the driven gear...

OK, im assuming you have the electric OD? has a push/pull handle under the dash? has a switch (kick down) under the gas pedal and should have a relay on the engine firewall. The way it works is you accelerate from 1st, shift to 2nd then to 3rd, push the handle in, take your foot off the gas and it w...

I bought my 65 F-100 from out of state and when i went to get my new tag, i found that the VIN number wasnt what was on the title. I called the seller and said, well we changed the drivers door out over 10 years ago. luckily he kept the old door and the correct VIN tag which he mailed to me and i wa...

The only thing i know for sure on storing auto glass is to NEVER lay it flat. I have made a rack using a couple pieces of plywood with some 2x4s to get it off the ground, then on the top side a couple more pieces screwed to the plywood making a slot to hold the glass upright. in the slots i just put...

I dont know what came in 60s trucks but what is in mine looks to be a piece of masonite type board cut to fit, covered by a piece of headliner material, same as a 60s Ford car. Its white vinyl like material with pinholes in it. there is a auto uphostery supplier here in Oklahoma City that has that m...

I have a Fridgette brand unit that i just took out of my 65 that i will send you for shipping. I still havent made up my mind if i r...

Speedo gear
TCI and some of the other trans companies have calculators in their webb sites. You need to know how many teeth on the trans drive gear, your rear end ratio and the height of your rear tire. Just plug in your numbers and the calcutator will figure it for you. 22 teeth normally is the most you can us...

will this MC fit my 65 f-100?
Is it a simple matter of changing one for the other or are there modifications to be made? Other than lines and adding valve?

I had 255/60x15 tires on the front of my 65 with no power steering. It was a real bear to steer. I now have 215/70x15 on the front and kept the big tires on the back and it is very easy to steer. It still isnt power steering but its real nice. Also there is plenty room for headers. If you were tryin...

T-85/R-11 questains for banjopicker66 or others
I didnt want to highjack the post from the other day so i started a new one. I installed a T-85/R-11 in my 65 F-100 the same way i did in a 56 Crown Victoria 40 years ago (maybe thats why my memory may be faulty on this). There are no relays, kick down switches in the truck and the governer isnt hoo...
