Truck went to the paint shop today

I haven't been around much lately. I spent the last three years getting my 66 Mustang fastback completely restored. Now it is done and I am starting on the Slick again. I have the frame completed with 2008 Crown Vic front end, 9" from 81 F-100, Mustang 22 gallon tank, AOD trans and a 5.0 from a 90 Mustang GT with aluminum heads and three deuces.

It has been about three years since I took this sucker apart, so I am sure I will have a lot of questions. This is my first Slick build. It was running/driving when all this started...

Anybody using an aftermarket in-dash ac unit in their truck? I put a Vintage Air in my Mustang and it works great, but they do not have one for a Slick.

Vintage Air doesn't make a Sure Fit kit for our trucks but they do made Gen II Compac and Gen II Mini systems that are easily adaptable for our trucks. We are a Vintage Air Dealer and I've quoted a coupla people here on the board price on these kits. Shoot me a message here or call the shop 704-462-1050 if you need any assistance...ken...

Just put a Gen II in Tweetybird so look in the build section for pictures.
Its a great product but not as easy to install as it looks either as we just came up with another problem we didn't expect.
Take a close look at the Mini-system which wasn't recommended by our Vintage Air dealer. Maybe luckystiff has done one and can give you more information.
In other words, there ain't a lot of extra space in there so plan and measure two or even three times before you start.

Thanks for the a/c info. I have an overhead console I bought at a swap meet that has three rotary type electronic control knobs on it. I bet it can be adapted to run the a/c unit so I don't have those plastic knobs under the dash. I think the overhead console came from a suburban and fits like it was made for the truck. At this point, A/C is way in the future. Thanks for the testimony from Beaumont. I am sure if it cools there, it will cool in Dallas too.

I put the same unit in my 65 crew cab. Works great and was easy to install. No major modifications just bolted in.

I would highly recommend the classic air made for our truck version. I am in the third year of installation of the vintage air confuse-an-idiot instructions and they work great.

I plan to do a full custom dash in my uni but if I do AC it will probably be based around GEN II Mini.

that classic kit I've heard great feedback on but that think looks like your dash has hemroids. I could live with being hot easier than looking at half the ac system below the dash. then again I usually ride around with my window down anyhow. if mine gets ac it'll be so the wife will ride in it...ken....
