Time for a new Starter

right but i have a 292

i think ive got a lemon starter motor and the wrong starter drive

here are the parts ive got

i dont understand why im having problem, i put the old starter back in and after about 15 mins of it scretching it finally started the engine and when i pulled it off the bendix had retracted

i think i might have a bogus starter

alright so the general consensus is that the starter i had before was a 6 volt, so it wouldnt spin up

i've decided to just rebuild my old starter with a rebuild kit from Carpenter's

What really gets me tho is that I just recently move to Texas from Charlotte, NC. Carpenter's is litteral about 30 minutes from where I used to live

I'd i have my truck fixed by now if I still lived there

Alright, so I finally got my slick up and running again. I work too damn much, anyway, the starter i got at O'Reily's didnt work, I got a rebuild kit, didnt work, so then i spent the 130$ and ordered one online through Advanced Auto Parts and put it in and she cranked right up.

If anyone is interested i can probably find the starter and post the link.

if you put 12v to a 6v starter it will spin very fast due to the extra voltage.

I got the one with the drive gear already on it

^I'm not too good with electricity, but i beleive the higher amperage would cause problems with the electrics
