Moto,
You gotta Know I agree with ya 100%, on the SEC. It is with out a doubt the toughest conference in the NCAAF.
At the
FSU v
UF game on CBS last Saturday nite they were talking about this very subject After ex
GATOR Ron Zook coach used SEC style speed power & defense to beat Ohio State earlier in the day when U of Illinois knocked OH10 from undefeated.
Stuart Tillman said if the other conferences had to play SEC Qualty teams, or SEC Quality Schedules the favorites would never make it to that status in some of the other conferences.
I mean C'mon Folks, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, UGA, Tenn, Kentucky, this year, So Carolina, Miss State, Ole Miss, Vandy and of course my Alma Matter
UF Gators, who else in USA can play as an equal Among the teams & programs of the SEC or the southeast consistently?
Even the Second Tier schools like the ACC & C of USA schools in South East are a Road to Hoe when they're up for it.
Look at USF, a virtually unheard of small South FL school and the brand New UCF in Orlando, a 3 yr old program & with a Hiesman running back w/ over 2K yards on a yet unfinished season, AND playing for C-USA title Saturday Afternoon? Give Me a break. . . . .
People un-familiar with southeastern football, whether it's SEC or any other of a number of NCAAF Conference schoools here are something to be reckoned with on the grid. Look what Apalachain State ( say who?) did to Michigan, a perennial big 12 favorite.
I am not bragging here, but as a point of order, UF's sophmore QB has more throwing TD's and more running TD's both, than Matt Linert or Vince Young or any college QB ever had.
Yeah, Tim Tiebow is only a Sophmore, a 1st year starter this year, & we got beat in conference. But I bet we will be in a Bowl anyway even though we're 3 down. Here's a scary thought Defense is 90% Freshman @ U of F and there were only 3 seniors on the team this year.
Obviously I'm a gator because I went there, but so did my father in law-1927, my mother in law 1934, my wilfe 1978, my daughter in Law 1980, my Daughter 2004, my grand son 2006 so there is a lot of my family who attended there. But don't let my
GATOR PRIDE get in the way, my real message is the reason the SEC is what it is, IS because
we are all great teams & when that caliber of play goes on, the entire conference benifits the most.
I have to agree with 61 Ford & Moto, it's about the conference we are all great teams. On any given day, any team can win or lose any given game. But look at the cumulative total stats for our conference(s) here in the South East, look at the great schools in the South East. Look at our athletes too. Hey call me whatcha want, I'd rather watch SEC teams play that most of the pros in the NFL, I can feel ALL my emotions when I watch southern long ball especially the SEC teams. It doesn't get any better!
