Big 12 REALLY? (BCS BS talkin' SEC fan stuff. . .)

Post by Motocentro »

Am I really going to have to care about the big 12? And I'm not going to apologize to Missou fans, either. I mean seriously. It has been tough enough listening to the shit talk from the "Big" 10 and the Pac 10 for the last 30 years of my life, do I really have to care about another mediocre, small-time ball playing midget league that is even less important than the other two . . .? I was watching the LSU vs. Ark game and was forced to watch a freakin' BIG 12 advert! The GALL!

I mean, the only real college football that gets played in this country is down here in our corner. Glad ya'll like to pretend - it's entertaining for us really. It's even more entertaining when our conference sucks enough to let one team stand out enough to get a shot at the "championship."

Perhaps I'm just sore that LSU lost on Saturday. . . or that UGA lost to SC a few weeks back, or that UGA just isn't getting that shot at one of those gold old corn-fed midwesterners this year. . .

Either way, I don't think anyone can put a real case forward for any conference outside of the SEC. . .

Anybody want to scrap this one out a little. . .I'll be the first to admit, I'm conference-centric.

Don't sugarcoat it! Tell us how you really feel! (I'm an LSU and a UGA fan also)

Not me. I went to a C-USA school. While we have our moments and our history, our current level of play is nowhere near the upper BCS quality. Although, we did give Oregon a run for their money earlier this year in Oregon before shooting ourselves in the foot in the 3rd QTR. Daaaang.

I thought he was until he mentioned SEC, he has got to be talking about something else.

Big XII here or rather the Old Southwest Conference. I won't argue with you about the BCS cause I don't really care for the system. A playoff system would be better.

yea the bull s**t series does suck but so far it hasnt been screwed up yet this yr and i totally agree the real football is played down here in the south in the sec spurrier told the truth vandy could be leading the big 10 right now big 10 and 12 doesnt bother me so bad other than they really over hype them and they messed peyton out of the heisman its that joke of a pac 10 that espn thinks is so great yea (cal)they beat the crap out of ut this year which was a fluke since they have went 500 since then and thats playing out there.sec is the best college football conference out there and theres no arguying when anybody can beat anybody on any given day and youve got bowl eligible teams that isnt gonna get a bowl invite bc our conference is maxed out on bids!beleve only 2 teams didnt become bowl eligible vandy(5-7),olemiss(so bad who cares) and s.carolina is on border line but i think there bowl eligible so all i gotta say is GO VOLS FULMER IS BRING ME HOME NOTHER SEC CHAMPIONSHIP SAT NITE!

Moto,
You gotta Know I agree with ya 100%, on the SEC. It is with out a doubt the toughest conference in the NCAAF.

At the FSU v UF game on CBS last Saturday nite they were talking about this very subject After ex GATOR Ron Zook coach used SEC style speed power & defense to beat Ohio State earlier in the day when U of Illinois knocked OH10 from undefeated.

Stuart Tillman said if the other conferences had to play SEC Qualty teams, or SEC Quality Schedules the favorites would never make it to that status in some of the other conferences.

I mean C'mon Folks, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, UGA, Tenn, Kentucky, this year, So Carolina, Miss State, Ole Miss, Vandy and of course my Alma Matter UF Gators, who else in USA can play as an equal Among the teams & programs of the SEC or the southeast consistently?

Even the Second Tier schools like the ACC & C of USA schools in South East are a Road to Hoe when they're up for it.

Look at USF, a virtually unheard of small South FL school and the brand New UCF in Orlando, a 3 yr old program & with a Hiesman running back w/ over 2K yards on a yet unfinished season, AND playing for C-USA title Saturday Afternoon? Give Me a break. . . . .

People un-familiar with southeastern football, whether it's SEC or any other of a number of NCAAF Conference schoools here are something to be reckoned with on the grid. Look what Apalachain State ( say who?) did to Michigan, a perennial big 12 favorite.

I am not bragging here, but as a point of order, UF's sophmore QB has more throwing TD's and more running TD's both, than Matt Linert or Vince Young or any college QB ever had.

Yeah, Tim Tiebow is only a Sophmore, a 1st year starter this year, & we got beat in conference. But I bet we will be in a Bowl anyway even though we're 3 down. Here's a scary thought Defense is 90% Freshman @ U of F and there were only 3 seniors on the team this year.

Obviously I'm a gator because I went there, but so did my father in law-1927, my mother in law 1934, my wilfe 1978, my daughter in Law 1980, my Daughter 2004, my grand son 2006 so there is a lot of my family who attended there. But don't let my GATOR PRIDE get in the way, my real message is the reason the SEC is what it is, IS because we are all great teams & when that caliber of play goes on, the entire conference benifits the most.

I have to agree with 61 Ford & Moto, it's about the conference we are all great teams. On any given day, any team can win or lose any given game. But look at the cumulative total stats for our conference(s) here in the South East, look at the great schools in the South East. Look at our athletes too. Hey call me whatcha want, I'd rather watch SEC teams play that most of the pros in the NFL, I can feel ALL my emotions when I watch southern long ball especially the SEC teams. It doesn't get any better!

FBP and I are on the same page here. . . Which I expect from a Gator, of course. I guess we just got a little spoiled last year and it's so close this year we can taste it.

This weekend will tell the tale. At this point, UGA has a better shot at the national championship than LSU woohoo.gif

Which is wild, but cool. If that happened, it would be the first time two teams with 2 losses would meet for a championship . . .

Man the BCS is totally screwed up lame.gif

Nah, BCS is just political justice in action. . . . .
Other conferences need all the publicity they can get.

Last year OH10 went into Phoenix stadium trash talking their opponents in typical Big 12 Swagger, But they left carrying their Butts Home Big Time aftr they had 'em handed to them. Like it wasn't even a close game either.

If the rest of the nation knew what those of us here who pay attention & where it's happenin' NOW, already know, they'd see their true friend is in BCS. Without BCS All the "wonderful others & various also rans" would go unnoticed doncha see?

What was it in last years '06 final games? Something like 8 of 13 BCS Games had SEC team or teams in them? What does that tell the world?

Also, and this really matters, conference wide, SEC players have highest GPA averages nationally and graduate the most college student athletes yearly. I believe that's in all collegiate sports, hoops, soccer, Long Ball, track & field, whatever.

We're with y'all totally. . . . . :thumright: cheerleader.gif GO GET IT SEC cheerleader.gif , hunting.gif the BCS CHAMPIONSHIP 2007

SEC...Heck we play a bowl game every weekend. I never was a fan of the "PAC 1" or "Big 2" Conferences.

Remember Notre Dame back in the late 70's and early 80's? Could lose 3 straight and still be in the top 10 poll.

On Leinhart and Young the thing you gotta remember is they never were without prime talent around them their whole careers. I wish the Titans had traded down and taken Cutler myself and gotten a shot at a decent receiver.

and on a final note: Will Rogers said he never met a man he didn't like but then again he never met Steve Spurrier....(just kidding, its a Tennessee thing)

GO VOLS!!!!!!

The Big 10 is not what it used to be.

The SEC is good, lots of good teams.

The PAC 10 can kiss my... I don't like or have respect for any of them. (sorry it is the way I feal)

ACC "Zzzzz"

I am a BIG fan of the Big 12. I was born in NE and will always be a Husker! GO BIG RED!!

I would love to see the BCS deside the 4-8 teams that would be in a playoff for the chapionship.

How can you play in a BCS game and not have won or even played in you conferance championship game? I don't get it?
