The previous owner swapped a 460/C6 into my 64 and never reconnected the speedometer. I followed the cable through the firewall and down to the tranny to see why it was never connected. It seems that the speedometer cable is too short. So my question is this.
What cable to buy that would work with an original speedometer and an early 70’s C6?
Help, Speedometer cable for a swapped 460/C6 into a 64.

I am assuming that the one in there is the original one, but we all know what happens when we assume, right. It looks to need another 8-12 inches. To tell you the truth I am not even sure that the end of the cable is the same end that would go in there. Dennis Carpenter doesn’t even list my year truck for a speedo cable replacement (p.66)

I know that a C6 shares the same gear and basic length as a C4 and T-18. This is what I have recorded in my little book for speedo cable when I replaced mine:
Speedometer cable: Replacement cables from LMC, Other places, were all too long. The correct length cable turns out to be available from regular parts places. Pioneer CA-3020 About 63”, 7-27993-1 Only problem with this cable is that is did not include the bracket which holds head in the tranny. This can be salvaged from the old unit.
I got mine from CarQuest, but pioneer is sold by several places. The price was under $20. I had a good parts guy with a book that showed the ends of the cable and lengths.
Hope this helps.....
