Send in the Clones!
Send in the Clones!
I have to say that personally I am really sorry to see this starting to happen. But, that's just me.

Re: Send in the Clones!
I kinda agree! I have decided not to build one, simply out of respect for the original! I also have mixed emotions as to the outcome of this particular example. As stated by others, for 50 grand, it could have been an accurate tribute, but maybe the owner felt he did not want a clone. That wouldn't explain the graphics, however. I have thought of "discovering" the 65 edition hidden in my barn ( that's possible if you've seen my accumulations). My big problem with that concept is my feeling that a 60's drag truck should have a straight axle!

Re: Send in the Clones!
I think it would be cool to do a competitor. Much in the same style, but NOT the same. Like F-100SX...(not sure what "SX" would stand for, just sounds cool) Maybe do it so it would be in a lower class with a 300 or something.
Re: Send in the Clones!
F100 A/FX, B/FX, or C/FX, depending on application, might be descriptive without treading on anyone's toes.MadMaxetc wrote:I think it would be cool to do a competitor. Please note: The true xl had a Big Backwindow. Not this one. The true xl also had a 427. Very nicely done though.

Re: Send in the Clones!
I'm building a 66 ranger restomod. Started life as a regular custom cab truck with a straight 6 300 and 3 on the tree. Cruising these sites you see purists who must have everything the way Ford had it coming off the line, all the way to people air bagging and slamming these things. I'm somewhere in the middle. I say if you have the time and the funds, build whatever you want that will safely get you and your family down the road so you can enjoy it. The rest is up to you. Slick Stock motto should be: "If you build it, we will come" and ask you a million questions, LOL.
All my tools are hammers except screwdrivers, those are chisels.

Re: Send in the Clones!
Can't argue with that! Mine won't be a Ranger clone, nor an F100Xl clone, but it will borrow some from each, with Mustang buckets (unless I run up on a Mustang bench seat),a BBW, and hopefully, some serious power
.
I personally like the current unofficial Slickstock motto: If you've been building it for decades, bought it yesterday, or would just like to build it, come on anyway

Re: Send in the Clones!
Actually the XL desigination is a Ford thing;
Galaxie 500XL.
I would consider it more it's own build using the real thing as "inspiration".
Sincerest form of flattery so to speak.
I can easily believe having 50K in it since he had it done.
It would have cost him less in some places on that build to copy the real XL.
