Yeah, I would almost believe it is a voltage thing. Bending the arm won't matter because like I said, holding it in my hand and lifting the arm all the way up, the gauge only goes up so far.

I'll check my connections. I gotta remove the cluster anyway, none of my lights work, but thats another issue.

Finally drove the '64!

Finally drove it to town for a fillup tonight. Lots of minor isssues, one being: I just bought an aftermarket sending unit from a guy on here. It fits fine and seems to work, but at full (the arm all the way up), my gauge only shows a little over 1/2 a tank. When the gauge shows empty, there's still...

My 80's bench seat bolted right in using the original holes. The front two brackets are angled on the modern seat but will still line up with the holes using longer bolts. The modern seat IS thicker and higher, so if you have room issues, you may want to recover the existing seat. Mine is all the wa...

Oil filter adapter gasket

Don't know if this has been covered yet, but just some 411 for those of you wanting to re-seal the adapter plate and can't buy a gasket. If you purchase an original style oil filter from NAPA, the canister base gasket that comes with it will fit behind the spin-on adapter plate perfectly. It's rubbe...

She runs, even BETTER!

I can't remember being as excited about getting a vehicle running this good. I've definately never set solid lifters before. Put new gaskets on oil pan, oil pump and valve covers on the 292 today. New oil and Lucas additive, and set timing. It's as quiet as a church mouse now and pops off real quick...

Turns out, if you buy an original style filter from NAPA, the rubber base gasket fits perfect. $8
Who knew?

Anyone need a free canister style filter without the base gasket?

Good point. It could be just the same gasket as what the original canister sealed against.

Yeah, the morons at the two leading auto parts stores in town, including NAPA, didn't even know what a y-block is.
It's easy on and off. I may just try to make one out of cork and see if it holds.

Yes, good call 'cept I don't need the whole kit, just the gasket.
Looks like they don't offer it separate.

Y-block spin on oil filter gasket

Does anyone happen to know where I can get the gasket that goes between the block and the oil filter adapter plate for a 292 Y-block?
I'd make one, but I'm not sure a cork gasket would hold up.

You have air bleeds plugged or something in the booster assy. is plugged.
I just went through alot of that. Mine wouldn't idle and ran WAY too rich off idle and above.
I worked on it for hours to ensure every passage was clear. I doubt it's your jet size.

Good luck.

Salamander heater issues

Would anyone know why, when I plug in my kerosene salamander heater, the pilot (electric) glows, fan starts, fuel squirts but DOES NOT kick on?
I'm stumped.

SHE RUNS!!

and idles! Not sure why, but spent another couple hours on the boosters, spraying, blowing, repeat...took off the venturi tubes, crushed one, soldered it back together, took out the idle tubes, sprayed, blowed. Put it all back together and it idled right down...musta been extra gunk in there. BTW, c...
