The hardest part of rebuilding the steering column is removing the wiring pins for the turn signal switch and horn from the two plastic connectors. Just make sure that you mark the location of the wire pins.

Did it bolt right up or did you have to make modifications to the pushrod to make it fit correctly ?

The '77/79 brackets are different than the '65/72 brackets, I never tried the '73/76 brackets.

You might want to try a Mustang parts supply house. The early Mustangs pivot arm and connecting rods are similar to ours.

Dual reservoir Master with Booster

Dual reservoir Master with Booster This is a common upgrade that I started doing back in the early 80s. The best way I found was to use a master cylinder or a booster with master cylinder from a '67 F100/250, it bolts right in place, no modification needed. If using a booster you will need a set of ...

Sofla64, on the turn signal switch there is a plastic post that contains a spring/brush assembly that touches the back of the steering wheel. Then there is a second spring/brush assembly that fits into the steering wheel (your green arrow) that touches the back of the horn ring. Both spring/brush as...

Greg, that looks awful, and I was hoping to see your truck at Spring Splash this year. Before you make any repairs check out the cab floor around the rear cab mounts it may have buckled the floor. Check the frame also, better to find out now before the restoration begins.

Use a master cylinder from a 67 F100, F250. It will bolt right in without any modification needed. The 68 and later trucks have the longer push rod.

There are no stops on the steering box. Check on the back side of the 'I' beam, some have a bolt that hits the spindle where the tie rod connects, that would be your stop.

Lightshow, this is probably the second easiest upgrade, the first being power disc brakes. A '70 - '79 PS steering column, with the PS firewall support bracket - these are needed because the PS gearbox is about 2 inches shorter than the manual gearbox. . The PS gearbox is about two inches longer th...
